Manya feels proud of her humble background and is not ashamed of where she has come from.
In December 2020, Manya had narrated her life's story to Miss India before the pageant finale. After she was announced Miss India 2020 runner-up, her inspiring story, struggles and sheer hard work have gone viral once again. She is also winning praises all over the internet.
Talking about her struggles, Manya revealed that she had to spend many nights without food and sleep. She could not attend school as she had to start working very early. She said,
"All the clothes I had were hand-me-downs. I yearned for books, but luck wasn't in my favour. Eventually, my parents mortgaged whatever little jewellery my mother had to ensure that I paid my exam fees in order to earn a degree. My mother has suffered a lot to provide for me."She added, "At 14, I ran away from home. I somehow managed to complete my studies in the day, became a dishwasher in the evening, and worked at a call centre at night. I've walked hours to reach places so I could save the rickshaw fare."
Manya also said that she decided to take part in the Miss India pageant to uplift her father, mother and younger brother, and "to show the world that all is possible if you are committed to yourself and your dreams."
