Access Dots - iOS 14’s camera and mic access indicators now in Any Android Phone

Access Dots - iOS 14 camera and mic access indicators now in Android, iPhone access dot, iPhone green dot, iPhone orange dot

Did you know that once you grant access to your phone's camera or microphone to any third-party App, they can use it silently in the background?

Installed apps on your phone may misuse the granted permissions to secretly snoop on you. Smartphone manufacturers, as well as Google, have grown wary of the issue and every time an app uses the camera, microphone, or the location in the background on Android 9 Pie and upwards, you get a notification. Xiaomi has also added visual cues in MIUI 12 and so has Apple with iOS 14 to alert users every time an app accesses some features in the background. For phones by other manufacturers or running older versions of Android, Access Dots offers a similar solution by showing colored indicators every time an app uses the camera or the mic.

The app is created by XDA Recognized Developer
jagan2, who has also created apps like Energy Ring, Energy Bar, and Energy Notch in the past.

Presenting Access Dots for Android, supporting all the way down to Android 7.0!

Configuring the App is as simple as enabling the Access Dots Accessibility Service (Toggle switch in the App > (More) Downloaded Services/Installed Services > Access Dots > Enable). By default the App is configured to show iOS 14 style colored access dots - green for camera access, orange for microphone access. The App itself does not request for camera or microphone access.

Access Dots, adds the same iOS 14 style indicators (few pixels light up as a dot) to the top right (default) corner of your screen whenever any third-party App uses your phone's camera or microphone. Access Dots will be visible even on your lockscreen!

Access Dots is expected to work on all Android devices with Android 7.0 Nougat and upwards. Download Access Dots - iOS 14 cam/mic access indicators! from the Playstore.

Get Facebook's New Snapchat Clone 'Flash' on Android

Facebook Flash

Facebook just released a new app that aims to compete directly with Snapchat, but it's only officially available in Brazil at the moment. The app, called "Flash," is so much like Snapchat that it's not even the slightest bit of a stretch to call it a clone.

Welcome to Flash!
Share all your everyday moments with friends! Take selfies, send videos and chat.
Easily add fun face masks, draw and send disappearing messages.
It's fast and works great on most phones.
Get the new app now on Android and send flashes with friends!

Flash on Google Playstore.

Even though Flash is only officially available in Brazil, you can try it right now on any Android device in any country. All you have to do is enable "Unknown sources" in Settings, then download and install the following APK.

Download Facebook's Flash app from APKMirror (.apk)

Once you've done that, just sign in with your Facebook account, then you'll be ready to try it out. If you've ever used Snapchat, you'll feel right at home here—there's a chat screen on the left, a "Your Story" screen on the right, and a camera interface in the middle.

Really, the only difference between Flash and Snapchat are the filters, which are so outlandishly terrible that they're actually pretty funny. In one, a flock of birds stands on your head and picks at your hair, while Flash's face-tracking algorithm applies bird crap to your face in real time. Others show a marked Brazilian flair, with Carnival-style whimsy and colors.

Facebook's making absolutely no effort to hide its motive here: They're coming for Snapchat. There's no news yet on an official worldwide rollout for Flash, but once you've got the APK installed, there aren't any restrictions on using the app.
