Rumours were rife that love birds Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif are parting ways and the couple will even start living separately. But, their closeness at the Kapoor family bash and the accidently leaked kissing picture’ told another story. Now, for those who don’t know, Katrina was apparently super upset with the growing closeness between the former lovers, Dippy and Ranbir as it was too obvious during the Tamasha promotions. She also gave out a statement indirectly hinting at her growing insecurity to a popular lifestyle magazine, “I can’t enforce my will on the people in my life. Their choices are their own. I may not be happy with them but I hope that as they mature or as they evolve, their choices will change!”.



Of course, there was a lot of furore over this statement and recently, Deepika was asked about the comment about her relationship with Ranbir Kapoor. Deepika maintained her reserved stance and told a popular magazine, “I don’t read between the lines. I take people at face value.” Well, now that’s a very smart and politically correct answer. And well put too! Dippy sure knows how to brush rumours aside and excels at the knack of saying everything, without actually saying nothing.

Deepika is currently going strong with the Blazing Bajirao fame Ranveer Singh and is very close to her beau’s parents in Mumbai!

It is different when you reach the deep end of Deepika. She is natural, free-flowing, yet striking her diva-esque flair at all times. With soul unveiled and emotions exhaled. No hint or trace of competitiveness, calculation or compare. Just a young woman - vulnerable, venerated and well ... loved and desired too.



Even eloquent and 'zen-like' when posed with questions that push borders. She feels no rivalry in real-life, but for her upcoming epic film Bajirao Mastani, she bloodies her soul and goes to war for love. This is Deepika Padukone. To the world- a star, a diva. At core, a woman - an actress peddling her wares and her immense talent.

Two men on set - one (Bhansali) with a penchant for perfection, the other (Ranveer) with excessive energy. How did you keep pace?

I don't try to keep up with anyone else. I am clear about my energy and understanding with my director. Ranveer and I are so different, and Sanjay sir (Bhansali) and Ranveer are so different. The best thing is that our energies come together, and we all find our own rhythm. We have done Ram Leela together, which felt like the toughest film of my life. After doing Bajirao Mastani, I think that was a breeze. To tell you the truth, Bhansali has hardly directed me in this film. We have a different sort of connection; we don't need to speak much. He looks at me, I look at him and it is understood. He rarely had to talk me through anything in this film.

But isn't he extremely demanding as a director? You broke down while filming a scene.

I haven't met anyone who is so consumed and intoxicated by cinema as Bhansali. He has a beautiful mind, he is poetic, sensual, sexy and borderline raunchy - all in a magical way. He admits that he has no life beyond movies. His only other life is his mom, sister, dog and all of two friends. For him, there is no chalta hai attitude, or upar se kar lo option. I cried while shooting the Kathak dance sequence, because I was pushed to the corner and I didn't know how to crack it. As an actor he makes me feel fearless.

Ranveer prepped for the role without an iota of distraction, while you were juggling between other films. Are you a turn-on, turn-off kind of actress?

For me, the process is more internal than external. I didn't put myself through the process of shutting off, maybe it would have been ideal, but I was tempted by other films I was doing simultaneously. I guess women are better at multitasking. Also with Bhansali, you can rehearse as much, but it is pointless. God forbid, if you end up doing what you rehearsed the previous day, he will sit behind the camera eating chana and look bored. He will wait for you to blow his mind away. It doesn't matter how we do it, we have to figure it out and show it to him.

It was interesting to see Ranbir and Ranveer promote each other's films, however subtly. The industry isn't as aggressively competitive, as we believe it is?

I have always said this - actors are not as competitive as it appears, it is just the way it is projected and interpreted. Even all the negativity that reportedly exists between actors is often exaggerated.

Have you faced negativity?

Yes, I have. I don't encourage it and don't let it figure into my scheme of things.

Are you competitive?

Of course, I am competitive, but not in a rivalry sort of way. I want my last film to compete with my next. I watch other actors' works, but I don't follow them. I don't know who is doing which film and whose release is coming up next.

Is it because you are in a good, secure space now - all the way at the top?

Honestly, I don't know where I am and I don't allow myself to be aware of it. Everyone around me tries to make me aware and conscious of it. I know when I say this people often think I am being fake or politically correct or too poised. The fact is that my goals, dreams and ambition is beyond all this. Even Ranveer wonders how I can be so Zen-like all the time. I don't know any other way to be.

While shooting the 'Pinga' song, where Priyanka and you share screen space, didn't you even for a moment want to outdo her?

Our screen characters had to be a certain way, but I never felt that we had to carry that energy off set. In fact, Sanjay sir was troubled by the fact that Priyanka and I didn't have a showdown or a catfight. He wished we didn't get along and he would actually sulk because we were bonding between shots. In his animated style he would tell us, 'It feels like you girls are doing fugdi before coming out of the van. This is not what I want!' We told him we will create it for him when the camera rolls, but too bad we didn't feel that way in reality.

Your chemistry with Ranbir and Ranveer seems to be the talking point of your movies and promotions. Does it irk you?

People thought Irrfan and I shared great chemistry in Piku, but no one asked awkward questions then. They didn't ask him who I made a hotter pair with. In the case of Ranveer and Ranbir, they are always posed with the similar question - who looks hotter with me?! It feels awkward. There is no need to compare, and one does not have to be better than the other. Besides, it is not that complicated. If, at some point, I reverse the kind of films I do with both of them (like a sweet romance with Ranveer and a sensual, passionate film with Ranbir) - then probably a comparison makes sense.

Are you a romantic at heart?

Absolutely! I am extremely romantic. I like the typical candle-light dinners, flowers and all that attention, but that's a small part of it. If all that comes because of the man's personality, it is good. But if it is not genuine and he is doing it to just impress me, I will know it right away. In love, once you cut all the bulls**t, the real thing starts and that is the difficult part.

Would you ever let your career take a back seat for love and marriage?

For me, giving up my career is not an option for family life. I want both and I will have both. I have always wondered why women have to choose between family and career. Men are never asked to give up one for the other.

Ranveer says he feels a divine connection with you. What do you feel?

He is my best friend (and this is not to be taken lightly). I am emotional, sensitive and vulnerable and I hurt easily. I can be so naked in front of Ranveer... and I know he will never hurt me or take me for granted. That is the kind of trust and understanding we have. The reason I love and respect him is that I can bare my soul and still feel comfortable. If this is divine connection - this is what it is!

It seems your first Hollywood film is on the verge of taking off? The picture of you with XXX star Vin Diesel set off an alarm in Bollywood.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali knows the art of film-making too well. Trailer of his latest magnum opus was released two days ago and it has already created a havoc on the social media because the trailer looks absolutely brilliant! Deepika and Ranveer had an experience of working with SLB in Goliyon ke Raasleela Ramleela, Priyanka Chopra confessed how she felt little out of place when she started shooting for Bajirao Mastani.

It was Ranveer Singh who spilled the beans on at the Trailer launch. Ranveer confessed that Priyanka was so exhausted by the third day itself that she was on the verge of opting out of the film.



Ranveer quoted Priyanka and said,

Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale posters clash…again!
This Sunday, the makers of Bajirao Mastani released Priyanka Chopra’s Kashibai poster (drool!) and Deepika Padukone’s Mastani poster (OMG!) within a few hours. Since Priyanka wasn’t in the country, as she was shooting in Canada, Kashibai poster was released online but the Mastani poster was launched in a grand way. However, with a few minutes of the unveiling of the Mastani look, the makers of Dilwale released the first look of their lead cast – Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon – in a single poster, without any sort of intimidation. This, kids, is what we call us stealing someone’s attention!

PRDP Dubsmash vs Dilwale Dubsmash
Unlike the previous section, this was one rivalry that made everyone go Awwww! Salman Khan and his PRDP costars, including Sonam Kapoor, Neil Nithin Mukesh, Swara Bhaskar and Deepak Dobriyal, did a Dubsmash of Shah Rukh Khan’s DDLJ track. After that, the Dilwale team, including SRK, Kajol, Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon and Rohit Shetty, reciprocated the deed by doing a Dubsmash of PRDP’s title track. Seeing the growing camaraderie between SRK and Salman Khan, we can almost imagine Rakhee Gulzar popping up and say , ‘Mere Karan Arjun aa gaye!’


Dilwale trailer launched
The much anticipated Dilwale trailer was finally launched in a grand way by Shah Rukh Khan and his team, and as expected, it was a typical Rohit Shetty film with romance, comedy, action, high production values and more cars being blown. The only thing that now makes it unique is the SRK-Kajol pairing in the film, that comes of as the USP of the film.



The Diwali bash and the great reunion
The Bachchans held a big Diwali bash at their house, with Amitabh, Jaya Bachchan, Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan playing the perfect hosts. Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra, Preity Zinta, Vikas Bahl, Jacqueline Fernandez, Raveena Tandon, Ranveer Singh, Sonakshi Sinha, Anil Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia etc. being the part of the guest roster. Prem Ratan Dhan Payo gets a HUGE release



This Diwali week as purely reserved for Salman Khan’s goody-goody act in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. The film is directed by Sooraj Barjatya and also stars Sonam Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Swara Bhaskar, Deepak Dobriyal, Armaan Kohli and Neil Nitin Mukesh. As expected, the movie got an astounding start at the box office, but also received middling reviews instead. Still, the film will ride high on Salman Khan’s star-power. After all, when has his fans bothered with the opinions of the elite few?

All I knew about Bajirao Mastani‘s plot was that it was about the love story between Peshwa Bajirao I and Mastani, about whom one folklore say is a courtesan while other say is a warrior princess. Then there is the third angle of Kashibai, who happens to be Bajirao’s loyal wife!

While Ranveer Singh plays Bajirao and Deepika Padukone plays Kashibai, Priyanka Chopra will taking on the role of the neglected spouse, Kashibai. Though I am yet to see how Sanjay Leela Bhansali has presented this love triangle (majestic, it will be, that’s for sure…but we will have to wait till December 18 to find out!), I can’t help but feel a bit of resentment for Ranveer Singh’s Bajirao!

Sorry Ranveer fans, but it has nothing to do with the actor. It’s more to do with character. I mean, how can he leave such an angelic face and go for Mastani, no matter how beautiful she might be!

No idea what I am talking about? Well, let me clear it for you. After revealing, Ranveer Singh’s look as Bajirao, the makers of Bajirao Mastani have released Priyanka Chopra’s look in the film, and Dear Lord, she looks absolutely beautiful! It’s hard not to fall in love with that angelic smile, as Priyanka looks absolutely stunning in that nauvari sari! With diyas in her hand, it really feels like Diwali has come four days earlier for her fans.

She has certainly raised the bar for Deepika Padukone, as Mastani poster should be terrific enough pop our eyes out, or we will still be thinking what made Bajirao leave Kashibai to go for Mastani!

Actor Ranveer Singh, who stars alongside his rumoured girlfriend Deepika Padukone in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani, said he couldn't get his eyes off her in the forthcoming historical romance film's new song Deewani Mastani.



The song, which was launched on October 17, features Mastani (Deepika) in all her beauty and glory.

Ranveer took to Twitter recently to share his thoughts about the song, which has been sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Ganesh Chandanshive.

Actress Deepika Padukone has raised the importance of spreading awareness about mental health at the launch of her NGO here.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday launched Deepika’s NGO Live Love Laugh, which will deal with the issue of mental health.

“We need to stigmatize mental illness and spread awareness about mental health. I know in the current scenario we lead stressful lives but you have to keep reminding yourself that it is important to live, love and laugh. After all that is what life is all about,” Deepika said during the launch.

“Most importantly for people like me who have had an experience with anxiety and depression, I think it is important to know that there is hope,” she added.

Deepika also talked about her depression and how her parents and loved ones helped her.

Talking about the depression of her elder daughter, Deepika’s mother Ujjala Padukone said: “I detected the symptoms in Deepika and I thought it may be due to some boyfriend issue. But then I knew the depression is due to mental and physical stress and we realized that we should take help from a psychiatrist”.

Deepika’s father Prakash Padukone added: “I was worried about the health of my daughter and we wanted her to be fine”.

The Piku star agreed that depression has changed her.

“A lot of experiences we go through in life makes you learn something and it makes you into a better person,” she said.

Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone have weaved magic whenever they’ve appeared together on screen. And their chemistry in Imtiaz Ali‘s Tamasha is no different. They look super adorable with each other in the trailer and now, the first song of the movie is out too.

Shaandaar starring Alia Bhatt and Shahid Kapoor is almost set to hit the screens on October 22. The promos look gorgeous. More so, Shahid and Alia’s chemistry is something that’s literally leaving us craving for more. They look no less than a vision together and I don’t think anyone would disagree to that. But there’s more news! Believe it or not but Alia wasn’t the first choice for Shaandaar. Yes! The makers were initially keen on casting Deepika Padukone opposite Shahid in this destination wedding film. But Ranveer’s girl denied the offer for reasons unknown. Reveals a source, “Apparently, Vikas approached Dippy, but the actress could not do the film. It would have been a fresh casting and Shahid too was keen to work with Deepika. Vikas waited for a long time for Deepika, but she finally said no.”



No wonder Shahid and DP were seen bonding so much during the Screen Awards 2015, earlier this year! Remember we had brought to you inside goss on how the two were stuck to each other, with deep conversations until the end of the show? Nevertheless, we are glad Alia  has come on board for Shaandaar coz let’s admit it, we LOVE Alia, don’t we?.
